Body English Poem by Denis Mair

this image stuck in my craw

because I couldn't think of a simple phrase

I was riffling the semantic archives

trying to gyrate along multiple axes

thrown off by that asymmetrical swing

no way to match that 'step-step-slide'

but in my most flatfooted moment

here it came...that groove called to me

and my answering groove (if you can call it that)

was to think of two words: BODY ENGLISH

because they express the JE NE SAIS QUOI

of how such an image would come to be.
