Born To Be Lucky Poem by David Harris

Born To Be Lucky

Rating: 5.0

Some people are born to be lucky,
having riches and wealth by the score.
There are others born to be lucky,
and have a wealth of friends evermore.
The question now arises,
which person would you want to be?

If you choose money,
what kind of life would you see?
You would never want for anything,
and friends you might have to buy,
to be at your beck and call,
but they might all disappear if you suddenly fall.

Now just suppose,
you chose the other life
what would you see?
A league of smiling faces,
with arms outstretched to save you,
in case you were ever to fall.

So if I were born to be lucky,
the second choice I would choose,
Friends to be at my side, by choice and not for pay.
Because I’d know if I came across fear,
a pair of helping hand would be close by,
to help me to steer clear.

So I ask again,
which one would you choose?
Only one as you can’t have both.
Would it be a wealth of money, or a wealth of friends?
The choice is always yours my friend.
Choose very wisely as you will have it until your dying day.

Some have no choice: O) ......I wasn't born with money nor do I have it now....But I sure am lucky because I have you as a friend: O)

Respectfully disagree-there are wealty people in this world whose generosity is without strings and whose wealth of friends remain true. Constance

A great write David with so much wisdom weaved from top to bottem! Questions to ponder...and much to consider and think about seriously. Hmm what if you have both, there are those that I know that do...but if I had to choose {1 } it would 4 sure be 'Friend wealthy'.....no question about it. Great piece of well writrten poetry David, I must agree with Duncan...this is one of the best pondering pieces i have read this week. Keep up the really excellent work my friend........thank U. =Shelley=

This is my pick of the week David, what a great piece of wisdom again, the second stanza it awesome and I think, really defines the whole piece: If you choose money, what kind of life would you see? You would never want for anything, and friends you might have to buy, to be at your beck and call, but they might all disappear if you suddenly fall. BRILLIANT! ! ! Take care, love duncan X

I agree with my poet friends here, I would rather have friends. Choosing the latter will give us both, because sooner or later in life we will experience occasions when we have a great deal of success, which some will refer to as luck, when in fact they are truly being blessed by the Holy spirit, so when you choose the wealth of friends, you have it all.--Thankyou David---Melvina---
