Boundless Summer Poem by D.N. Rebb

Boundless Summer

Rating: 5.0

I pledge to make this a boundless summer
As the pied woodpecker grooms his drum sole
You abduct a tender piece of my heart
While on our romantic leisurely stroll
With luminous eyes like flawless diamonds
Just penetrating deeply into mine
We snuggly hold each other vacuum tight
Tonelessly, this lasting moment's defined
The quiet river murmurs a lullaby
Two squirrels slyly outwit each other
This brisk stage in rehearsal, just for us
We pledge to make this our boundless summer

There are no plans for this boundless summer
The less risk we consider, the better
A slow inch worm bravely crosses our path
Time's irrelevant when we're together
This insight will be permanently etched
As a deer is snacking on wild hostas
It senses us, stops and swiftly bolts off
We laugh, as we are the least hostile
A stalking owl conveys a looming night
We mutely pose in front of the campfire
Tomorrow the wind might bring cooler air
A need to preserve our boundless summer

A campfire always warms body and soul. Especially the singing around it. Or playing charades! My friend, it's never too early to start planning a boundless summer. Can hardly wait to return to tennis and cycling. And, of course, .. the patio! .
