Breaking Away Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

Breaking Away

Rating: 5.0

Pressure
Perils lurking somewhere in the thick shrubs
You're eager to succeed though
But having to contend with unhappy friends ‘n foe alike
Those saying you should've done something to succeed
And those vilifying you for the genuine errors you made
There you are, all alone, feeling squeezed for breath
Tell you what, that's a pretty good space for self-reflection

Resilience
Errors
Lessons
These are things you won't find in children's books
Willingness
The cause
Indeed, choices are hard in closed spaces
At times, you've to bomb your way out through the concrete walls.
