Brighter Stars Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Brighter Stars

Lived to observe.
And witnessed to experience,
The sight of it to believe.
Many depicted as less impressive.
Insignificant.
Yet possess...
Identifiable intelligence.
With a competence,
Others with ego and pretentiousness...
Could never express this,
Publicly to address.

These are the people,
Living basic and happy lives.
In places where they are accepted,
And respected for who they are.
Not seeking to be 'stars'.
Shining brighter than the others.
In unsuspecting neighborhoods.
Where 'stars' glow bright.
And if chosen to do so,
Would not need the Sun...
Focused upon themselves,
Just to impress.
Or imitated done to be someone else!
