Building Castles On The Sand Poem by Paula Glynn

Building Castles On The Sand

Rating: 5.0

Fragile and delicate
Moving through life slowly
Emotional wellbeing difficult
Crying endless tears at night
Waking from horrible nightmares in a fright

All alone being developed in a world of tears
No-one being able to help
No matter how nicely you dress it up
Always following the rules nevertheless
Feeling the pain of frustrating poverty

Of always knowing I have less
Of the neverending stress
That makes the sand sink
With the weight of a strong castle
The sand foundation useless

A perfect day: until the crush
A vast crowd in a rush
Feeling the severe push
Feeling the suffocating crush
Yet no-one really but myself to blame

Feeling bitter and blasphemy
Wondering why God has walked off
And left my strong castle
In the weak and movable sand
The castle now crashing into the sea

My invincible reign ended bitterly
My emotions bent like breeze blocks
Wishing for pointless revenge
Because I should have known better
Than build my indestructible castle on sand

Sometimes life is like walking in quicksand. In quicksand the more you struggle the more you sink, you have to crawl out of it with the help of a loved one. hang on in there. A good 5* poem.
