Button Pusher Poem by Lauren Coles

Button Pusher

Button pusher
Machines don't operate on their own,
People push people's buttons when they get mad,
People get to do things like running, and feeding themselves,
But if you have a disability you have to watch people do things from afar,
Not all disability's can be seen,
Dislexia is a reading disorder that makes words float around on the page backwards,
My disability is visible because I'm in a wheelchair.
Some people may get disabled as a result of a accident and some people are born with it,
People who are disabled from a accident become more susceptible to fall into depression,
My parents have to work so I have a aide who has to help me,
My brother has to sacrifice going to the gym or going on dates to watch me,
He could put up a fuss,
I don't like to be paralyzed but I think it's a blessing to show my talent for writing to the world,
I could have just thrown In the towel but I don't want to hurt the people that love me the most,
Great things come from tragedy.
