C J Poem by Francis Duggan

C J

C J he is a worrier he is in a mental mess
He worries over little things his life is ruled by stress,
He is only in his early thirties and his hair is silver gray
And that he looks twenty years older it would be fair to say.

C J's wife Rosie left him for the forty seven years old Stan
And though he is years older she says he is a younger looking man
Than the sad and boring C J a man still in his prime
One who has not laughed or smiled for years and worries all of the time.

He did not know how to laugh or smile and apart they had grown
And with her lives their seven years old son and C J lives on his own
He feels angry with the World and angry with his ex wife
But she has found her own happines and one might say that's life.

C J is a Uni Professor with a maths and science degree
And few as well educated or as intelligent as he
But 'twould seem a ton of worries he carries on his back
And if he could force himself to smile his face would surely crack

That his wife left him for an older man is hurtful for C J
But such is life and such things happen in life every day
Thirty one on his birthday in March his hair is silver gray
And his ex Rosie happy with Stan and with Stan she will stay.
