Calling A Father Poem by Elna Nel

Calling A Father

Rating: 5.0

what you think you have in hold
not knowing if the land was sold
not knowing to be frightened or bold
all the words that this life is about
brought towards indignant men and women
could not make you sell your sight
even though it strikes the ear
that does not hear
and you may have to negotiate
the need to know
and been heard or not
you could not sell your sight
in waiting for earth's charge
to be laid down
you climb light and go down
the brook of runs
to speak and navigate
for fathers and sons
who layed down commitment to fright
they who've sold their sight
