'Can I Be Your Friend? ' Poem by Essambeh Ebai Essambeh

'Can I Be Your Friend? '

Can I be your friend even though I'm far away?
Can I be the one you can always talk to every, passing day?
I know the times might be tough; I know there are times you cry.
I know many don't understand the pain you usually feel deep down inside.
I know you feel like you're all alone,
But take a look around you; there are many who also find themselves in that same state and are also very cold.
You see, we don't ask for the pains that we sometimes feel,
We don't pray for them to come and later ask to be healed.
It's just a stage of life, and soon it'll pass away.
It's ok to cry, but don't stay down for so long and forget about yesterday.
Reckon the times you had always smiled,
Recall those blissful memories, the best moments you've had in a while.
Let that be the song you hold on to during these tough times,
Keep on walking; it won't last forever; it's just a matter of time.
