Can You - Poem by Kendal Pope Miller

Can you look at me without saying 'she's beautiful'?
Can you look at me without saying 'she's mine'?
Can you look at me without saying 'shes's my everything'?
Can you look at me without saying anything?

Now it seems like you can.

You can look at me without saying 'she's beautiful'.
You can look at me without saying 'she's mine'.
You can look at me without saying 'she's my everything'.

Now it seems as if you barely know me.
You can look at me without saying anything because you feel as if your wasting your breathe.
You moved on, but what about me?

Because I know I cannot look at you without saying 'he's beautiful', because your the one in a million.
I cannot look at you without saying 'he's mine' because I know deep down you still are.
I cannot look at you without saying 'he's my everything' because it's true.

I love you more than anything or anyone in the world.
You are the only one for me.

Can you look at me and say 'we had nothing'?
