from "Curious Creatures"
2 Corinthians 2: 14-16
A recently delivered
cord of cedar
stacked in tidy piles
is now the scene
for our cat's sleuthing.
Less intensely curious
he circumspectly sniffs
at its perimeters.
Immersed in his investigation
he mounts atop
and hunkers nose
right down to red-meat log
risking his coarse tongue
to its splintery surface.
It's like spirit
but his cat brain seems not
to comprehend it.
What he knows
is that the fragrance—
which wafts abroad
in alluring arabesques
and spins his head
with sweet confusion—
does have its origin
somewhere in that wood.

Just read your Cedar investigation, Glen! An interesting poem that investigates the spiritual curiosity, not just of human beings but cats as well. This goes to show that the soul is resident in all beings of this earth. Enjoyed reading it. Thank you for sharing it.
thank you, geeta, for reading it. interesting how what eludes us when we try to seek it can be so near- which grace-filled epiphanies reveal to us. -glen
