Chaplin's childhood was fraught
with poverty and hardship,
clad in tattered garments,
got little, for bread he fought
His father's life was a tragedy, bitter
Died at 38 from cirrhosis of the liver
Addiction to alcohol was the killer
His mother had no means of income
No financial support, nowhere was she welcome
She was later committed to a mental asylum
Due to malnutritie, the worse had come
The legendary Charlie would later become
a newspaper vendor,
a toymaker,
a printer,
a doctor's boy,
and about a zillion other thing
his hard life, made him finally
a legendary comic actor
No one in history has made people laugh
as Charlie Chaplin did, a real wonder
But despite making other people laugh,
His heart was full of despair, sad
despite the reputation he had
But he didn't want the people see him sad
That is why he once had said:
(I love walking in the rain,
because no one can see my tears
my pain!)
