Charme Pour La Crique D'encanto. Poem by Michael Walker

Charme Pour La Crique D'encanto.

Qu'elles continuent a retourner, qu'elles continuent a revenir.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
See Poem Hunter/ Mark Jarman/ 9/14 for the original.
The two figures-blades of grass and olive trees-
keep coming back to the bridge of Encanto Creek to drink of life-giving water and to look at their own reflections on the water surface. I interpret the last line to mean: 'May they keep returning, keep coming back'. Because the poet repeats two similar-meaning words, 'returning' and 'coming back', the poem casts a spell itself.
