Chevalita

Rating: 3.3

'Chevalita,
Pretty cretr,
I do love her
Like a brother;
Just to ride
Is my delight,
For she does not
Kick or bite,'

We usually want to delightfully ride someone who does not 'kick or bite'. Couldn't get the meaning of 'cretr' - can any one help?

Khairul Ahsan, cretr is a humorous misspelling of " creature" . This poem is from Louisa May Alcott's book UNDER THE LILACS. The main character in the story is a boy named Ben who has never attended school and he was writing this poem about Chevalita, a lovely horse belonging to a friend.

Simple does not mean empty minded. A truism. I'd say redundancy...

For anyone who does not know, this poem is from Louisa May Alcott's book UNDER THE LILACS. The main character in the story is a boy named Ben who has never attended school and he was writing this poem about Chevalita, a lovely horse belonging to a friend. And since Ben does not know how to spell very well, " cretr" is a humorous misspelling of " creature" .
