Childish And Combative Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Childish And Combative

Many find themselves,
Laughing at the embarrassing antics...
By one childish and combative.
Elected to represent their values.
And yet...
Beyond conscious explanation.
Why is that anyone,
So reckless and divisive.
Self serving and egotistical.
Mentally corrupted.
Loss of emotional depth.
Manages to get attention
When displaying unconcern.
Although...
Criticized on a regular basis.
By those who still laugh.
Yet claim to be upset to express this.
To then publicly complain,
About the incompetence of it all.

"How long has this been going on? "

At least three years in a leadership position.
Any many years before that.

"Then why has it not been accepted,
The one they elected to choose and pick...
Represents what they value.
Someone self serving and egotistical.
Uncaring and unconcerned about others.
Thoughtless and disrespectful."

Well...
It's almost like buyer's remorse.
You know...
Getting what is wanted.
Then realizing too late,
What is purchased...
Is not that easy to return.
Especially,
When it was demanded to get.
And believed to be an improvement.

"Oh?
And...
When are they hoping,
This 'improvement' will begin to occur? "

That's difficult to answer.
Since the damage for many is entertaining.
And for them it's like watching a movie.
You know...
Godzilla Destroys The World.
And they sit,
Watching and cheering on Godzilla.
Because Godzilla has gained their empathy.

"This can not be reality! "

Unfortunately...
For many it isn't.
It has become more entertaining.
Than a truth to accept many still disbelieve.
