Close To Ruins Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Close To Ruins

No longer discussed,
In debates to await...
One decision to make,
That will place the fates...
Of the many held at distances.
As if hostages to devour.
Chosen to salivate,
Done to do while lives as close to ruins.
Has left many no longer applauding,
Those they now find childish of mind.
Although they could not be convinced,
The ones they selected...
To represent their interests.
Had only one interest to feed a selfishness.
Regardless who had been,
Blindsided, hoodwinked, duped and tricked...
By crooks, liars and thieves who sit,
In positions to pick...
Their own menu.
And when and how it should be presented.

"Uh...
I apologize for disturbing you guys.
But...uh...
The sky appears to be falling.
And it seems as if millions of people,
Are demanding you folks...
Do something immediately about it."

-Well...
Relay this message.
Everyone will get a taste of the cake.
However...
No one has of yet agreed upon,
Whether the frosting on it...
Should be lemon, chocolate or both.-

"Uh...
And, the sky? "

-No.
Blue won't do.
But thank you for that recommendation.
Oh.
How thoughtless of me.
Issue each one an 8 by 10 glossy of me.
And be sure they are all signed.-
