Come What May Live A Righteous Life Poem by Terence George Craddock

Come What May Live A Righteous Life

come what may?
try to live an honest day
circumstances may tempt us
our choices will define us

come what may?
love may find us
be waiting at the gate
or love may arrive too late

come what may?
be it life or death
we all must pay
our final debt

come what may?
be it love or hate
we all must face
an uncertain fate

come what may?
be it joy or sorrow
we all must live
for a new tomorrow

come what may?
be it hope or despair
we all must find
a reason to care

come what may?
choose peace not war
we all must learn
what love life is for

come what may?
we should face each day
with faith courage hope
with love laughter play

come what may?
we should find a way
to rise through peril
survive troubles slay

come what may?
we should not be swayed
by uncertainty fear doubt
fall prey to hate cruel greed

come what may?
we should stand our ground
with strength resolute grace
with honor morality pride

come what may?
we should reach for the stars
not live sentenced behind prison bars
we are only human but choices will define us

Each and every stanza stands out. To my favorites.

I wanted to write this poem for a long time, but could not get the ideas in my mind into paper; then recently some of the ideas concerning choices and consequences of how reacting to 'come what may' changed circumstances materialized, and what could not be written was finally written.

A beautiful poem well composed. Very inspiring. Liked the recurring lines Come What May. It adds beauty to the poem.

For some reason the line 'come what may? ' sings to me and intrigues with implications; I wrote a poem 'Come What May? ' back in January 2014 on the 16th and never got around to writing the other version.
