Commercialized Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Commercialized

Desensitized mentally.
Feelings deep,
To confess them had...
Only on the surface,
Appear they do to imitate...
A depth lacking,
Reason and purpose.

Commercialized from birth.
Taught to teach and search,
For material things first.
To prioritize and satisfy,
Impulses sought as taught.

Drugged.
On greed fed to feed.
Commercialized to produce,
Expected reactions.
Weapons sought and bought,
To buy to protect...
Possessions against threats.
Not yet witnessed to arrive.
Commercialized.

Violence.
Instigated to create division.
Sold to those thoughtless,
Mindless souls.
Stripped away and separated,
From emotions.
Gone from detection.
Gone to suspect them left.
To expect this connection,
Understood to comprehend...
The meaning of humanity.

Commercialized.
Religion.
And politics monopolized.
Although attempts are made,
To disguise hypocrisy.
Described to be democratic.
Accepted as a part of life.
Commercialized.
From birth to thirst,
An addiction first.
With a feeding to deny,
Truth and its existence.
For excuses to make.
Sold to sell them well!
