Commit To Me Love Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Commit To Me Love

Commit To Me Love!

No problem do you seem to have,
Committing to give me conflict.
Or your excuses to make,
For the doing of this.

Commit To Me Love!
Besides committing yourself,
To lies to tell.
You anticipate will flavor gossip.
With rumors to follow sold to sell.
Then deny to pretend,
I had been the one to offend...
Your innocence to defend.

Commit To Me Love!
Whether publicly or not.
Show this you can do.
If you can do this to prove,
Around the clock nonstop.

Commit To Me Love!
And not an imitation to fake it.
Too much your commitment,
Has been devoted to pretensions.
Done to do well.
Yet love to know,
Is not a performance of show and tell.
Love is a feeling.
That remains in one's heart.
Staying on one's mind kept to dwell.

But you...?
You have no problem at all,
Committing conflict.
And your excuses to make,
For repeatedly doing it.
As if I should understand,
Your version and act of love...
Is misunderstood to be a sickness.
I, for whatever the reason,
Have wrongly misinterpreted.
Misinterpreted as a sickness.
And I should accept,
A judgement passed unnecessary to do.

Commit To Me Love!

Without the mixed messages to me sent.
You know...
The ones I receive from you.
Accusing me for what I did not do.
Then disgustingly display,
Open and in public.
Spewing an array,
Of words my ancestors heard.
More creative today than in the past.
Yet you expect me to accept,
Your performance is not betrayal.
But a commitment of love,
In ways someday I will regret?
Who on Earth do you think I am?
Your personal fool to use as a tool?

Commit To Me love!
Then I will commit to you,
Every thought I think...
About your convincing,
Committing commitments.
