Common Sense To Use Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Common Sense To Use

Intelligence known to have it.
With common sense to use.
Has yet to be,
An historic discovery...
Found repeatedly revealed.
As to why,
Progressive societies...
From centuries gone and past.
Refuse these paths to remain,
To broaden their perspectives.
Instead of other paths chosen,
Done to find exciting...
Fighting amongst themselves.
Clutching in lifeless hands,
Treasures they most value.
Dressed in impressive,
Barbarian outfits.

And had done,
With a loving to advance...
Steps taken,
Towards their own demise.
As if ignorance had become,
That attractive.
Creating a 'must-to-have-it'...
Suffering and death defying,
Atmosphere.
For all inhabitants craving it!

Has intelligence,
Known to have it.
And common sense to use,
Still that aging of a threat?
Creating to cause,
Steps towards enlightenment.
An enemy for those,
Afraid this discovery...
They can not control.

Or...
Rule over to be opposed,
By those who choose...
Using their minds.
And not following behind,
The instability...
Of sickened mentalities!

Are we...
Living to witness,
This history to see repeated?
Updated to view it,
On wide TV screens.
And munching,
On our favorite snacks! ?
Hypnotized and miraged,
By deception and fraud.
With a treating of betrayal,
And a side order of treason!
