Conditions Of Unconditional Love Poem by Adams King

Conditions Of Unconditional Love

Rating: 2.5

The head of man could only bare the sun
While he waits for the gathering clouds
To shield him from the scorching heat
But if the clouds fails to gather above
He will seek another path to walk

I know no man with a heart of perfect love
Men were made to love men by situations
No man would love to swim on a dry land
Nor lick the irritations of a dry land
So an old beggar once told me

From my dad's own adage I could tell
The clouds can never touch the earth
The hawk and then hen are no friends
But when the wings of a hawk is broken
She becomes friends with the hen

Men will always switch the mechanism of play
When they attain a better name
He is poor and wretched, he is my lover
He is rich and wealthy, he was my lover
So a heartbroken lady once said

Man displays the loyalty of a chameleon
How easily he forgot the music we played
When he found a better tongue to sing with
How quickly he forgot the romance I gave
When he found a sweeter fruit than mine

Time is the breaker of a lover's promise
He promised and swore to be by my side
Because he has then no better warmth
He pledged never to break my heart
Because I could cope with his empty purse

No man will love you unconditionally
They love you for the conditions you provide
I once had a lover who failed the test of mine
Who loved me when he was nothing and poor
But hated me when he became wealthy

Once I sold my comfort for love
Sacrificed my all for my man to be happy
Worked like a man for my man to stand
Kissed his lips and asked nothing in return
Pretended to be happy even when I was not

I tried to show him the true meaning of love
I never knew I was being a fool in love
He broke my heart and stabbed my trust
When he stood tall and watched me fall
With a smile to mock my riverine tears

The ingratitude of men are in high measures
They forget the roof that sheltered them
When they once were cold and homeless
They forget the woman that stood by them
When no one saw them as somebody
