Conversations With Myself Poem by Shirley Hanley

Conversations With Myself

What is it they say
when you tell people
you talk to yourself?

'Well that's okay
so long as you don't
answer yourself.'
And then they laugh.

Well...

not only
do I
answer myself,

I sometimes
look
around the
room

to see who
may
have heard me...
[and I'm alone]

And then
I laugh.

I'm laughing
now
inbetween conversations.

We havve ongoing conversations with ourselves, every single one of us. The oddity is that it is percieved as strange...only when it's audible!

Shirley, I've sometimes found that talking to myself is the only way I can get sensible conversation. Ron
