Corona Virus Poem by Emmanuel Joseph Olumakiss

Corona Virus

Corona virus!
Your name put people on the run forgetting that which they valued most
You overpower men in higher authorities with the venom in your vein
Your sting is in enmity with life
Even the legs with highest speed
aren't spared of your endless doom
Many doubting thomases today beseech regret because they never believed in your reign

Corona virus!
Though your visit was cruel
Unaware and unwarranted but you've thought us genuine lessons
Now we know life is nobody's asset
You've also shown us that death is a bridge that connect the poor and the rich

You kill without pity
You trek every city
You take husband and leave wife
You take parents and abandon children
You take leaders and forsake followers
You also hide the leaders from their followers all in the name of isolation
Many you've forced to leave this world without their wealth
And others you chased out of their tenth
Human you've made to avoid life

Corona virus!
Why treat us thus;
As if you're the creator of the universe
You've chased us out from
good living to embrace neglect
In our various homes we are all hidden
You place our growth on standstill
You wrecked nations
The prominent you've brought down to the lower class
Sharing the same sickbed with the vulnerable
Our lives know no hope
Ever since your visit to this earth
You've locked us out virtually
On the things that give life
Could this be part of our existence?

You made Kings loyal to their subjects
The clergy you've ridiculed their healing powers
The miracle workers are afraid of performing miracles all for the danger you bring
In my fathers house we've all rotten
As a result of hunger virus
The rich you've made richer
Amassing the nation's treasury
Agony the only palliatives to the destitute

Corona virus!
I hail your supremacy
In the mids of my state
You've exposed their treacherousness
You made the rich to mimic the commoners with audio donation
Inventing hunger to maim
And reap our indigence apart
