Correctness Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Correctness

How can laws and justice,
Be viable to document.
As a blueprint to follow.
And taught to our children,
To consent to them and obey.
When everyday they are expected,
To absorb the correctness of life.
In textbooks they read to feel deceived.
When what they are taught to believe,
Does not represent the reality...
Of life they see on TV and the streets.
Contradicts.
Makes them feel as if misfits.
To eventually learn more,
About the power of hypocrisy and corruption.
With this to discover,
Has more benefits to value...
Than seeking to be correct,
Will ever have.
If a life of happiness is what they expect.
