Counting Stars Poem by Phil Soar

Counting Stars

It took a while to count the stars
A night in the darkness, counting for hours
And when it was over, I counted some more
A sky full of darkness without a single flaw

Staring across a developing space
A cold wind blew smartly and caressed my face
And with nothing to stop me from seizing the night
I watched as some more stars came into my sight

No clouds to stop brightness completing the scene
As the stars lit the sky, gave me reasons to dream
And as the dark sky became lighter at dawn
I lost count of the stars, as a new day was born.
