Courage Poem by Christina Simmons

Courage

What to do! Oh, what to do when supporters in the way of children
You bore: turn their back on you do you bribe them in the way of lavish gifts?
Do you plea - wailing - weeping endlessly: like a raven lunatic throw arms in the air
Falling into oblivion - acting like you just don't care

Or do you muster up some inner strength of survival and go it alone: gather being together
Say, rather loudly, 'I'm ME. I exist for myself. I owe it to myself to do my very best! '
Not alive for kids who do not care a damn about the meaning of the word 'Mother'
Become like the she-wolf, follow your nose
I'm sure - maybe others will accept and love me as I am.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this as a means of letting go of all the hurt and bitterness I feel being rejected by those I gave birth too.
