Covid-19 Lockdowns: Hit Hardest Below Poverty Line
who recalls the nationwide house arrest
home detentions where an entire citizen
population was because of laws passed
confined in their home
not permitted to leave
their own residences?
it was in the battered relentless
depths of those doom dark days
repeated Auckland City lockdowns
when a Covid 19 dictator Jacinda
Ardern turned New Zealand's
largest city into her prison state
it was a thug crime concept
a city wide prison each house flat
apartment a luxury or decrepit
private prison cell families
flatmates enter cannot leave
because Mother Knows Best!
for mega rich an easy paid
in their luxurious house
an all mod cons spacious
holiday but in poverty
overcrowded housing
a test of claustrophobia
endurance later data would reveal
a dark side to a state lockdown
a below poverty line sharp increase
in all locked up
together cannot
leave run escape
domestic violence

Those dark days have been in the annals of history and imprinted in our minds and hearts. A part of history that we wished it will never happen to the next generation. How sad to know that the effects of Covid are even more deeply felt to those impoverished due to oppressive laws.
