Credited To Vanity Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Credited To Vanity

An absence of leadership.
No matter how small or great.
Affects...
Any opportunity to dismiss,
From a limited perspective.
More impressed by visuals.
And a vanity one addresses,
Has less for them wished to get.
That just may be that significant opportunity,
One vain can not see to be...
The main link that connects,
To other opportunities.
One effectively can create for others.
Who will some day express their appreciation,
To the one deciding to leave behind,
A mind selfishly confined to ultimately discover...
And find,
An ego kept to feed upon...
Does not contribute to a feast.
Others assist to provide.

"Long and winded,
Is your philosophical analogy.
To me?
Makes no sense at."

-Maybe not.
But at this table,
There is nothing that I miss to crave.
Or wish to satisfy my taste for it.-

"I guess not.
Look at the variety of it."

-No!
YOU look at the variety of it.
Now...
Compare that,
To what your ego has brought to offer.-

"But...
I was not asked to bring my ego."

-Exactly.
And that is why,
You were asked not to contribute it.-

"I don't understand a thing you are saying."

-It doesn't matter to me.
If you don't mind,
Pass the chicken wings.-

"They are delicious.
Who made them? "

-Someone who obviously,
Isn't making attempts to get the credit! -
