Tune: Fragrance Wafting All Over the Courtyard

满庭芳•月挂天庭

月挂天庭，寒星闪烁，缕缕穿树清风。
举头遥望，无语泪先濛。

何慰慵寥辗转，夜半静﹑郁待明穹。
心期故，慕追清宁，素愿淡无踪。

枯茏﹑交替急，幽思无寄，隐若萤茸。
问君多少事，随叶销空。
未卜前程难懂，叹何奈﹑飘逝如鸿。
漫思忖，虚名浮利，难免梦溶。

A Crescent Moon in the Heavens hung,
Chilly stars glistening and sparkling,
And through the branches and boughs clung,
A disquieting breeze was rustling.

Gazing far and wide, blurred were my eyes,
The languid solitude, it's totally beyond relief.
I moaned and sighed but spoke not,
After tosses and turns in bed, sleepless at midnight.
What else could I do, but to wait, for daylight?

Wishful thinking remains unchanged and intact,
Peace and quiet, for what I have always admired,
Yet it seems fruitless, despite the tireless pursuit.

The rises and falls, too quickly they shift,
Yet meditating over them just leads to naught.
Obscure and transient they are, as a firefly's fleet.

Alas, the historic feats, have you noticed not,
They vanished, and are passed by, like dry leaves.
Things of the world, unpredictable, incomprehensible,
Causing many a sigh, they do drift like a fleeting goose.

The future(when pondered)seems also something incredible,
Glories do come, but will then go, to nothingness inevitable.
