Cowherd And Weaver Maid(Ballad One) Poem by Perdita Young (Hanna Wang)

Cowherd And Weaver Maid(Ballad One)

Rating: 5.0

On the Double Seventh Day of old,
A story has always been told
About stars, Altair and Vega,
Descending to the mortal world.

Altair was said to be the Cowherd,
A young, handsome, shy lad,
Raised up by his elder brother
Parentless, ah so sad.

Hardworking than any other,
Disliked by his in-law sister,
Considered as a burden,
He's forced to go and divide.

Everything went to his brother,
Except a cow (an old cow) ,
Which had helped him much
When he worked with plough.

Lonely he was with his old cow,
No love from his relatives now.
They lived in a simple hut,
Peeped by stars and moon bright.

"One of the stars belongs to you, "
The cow's able to speak, somehow,
"Your dream wife will come to you,
And she'll be your love true."

Twilight saw them to a lotus pond,
Where some maids were swimming beyond,
Their dresses and blouses on shrubs,
Fluttering Like wings, of dreams fond.
