Crying Wolf. Poem by Fay Slimm

Crying Wolf.

Rating: 5.0

Eerie howling, wolfhound calling.
Amber eyes alight.
Spirit of the deepest forest.
Stealthy pads the night.

Distant hunting, litters growing.
Feral family proud.
Livestock missing, farmers arming.
Freedom disallowed.

Tortured trappings, party shootings.
Stalking after dark.
Sighting now of wolfpacks only
In the Wildlife park.

Pressured lifestyle, fragile living.
Species on the wane.
Now mere myth and legend honour
Wolf of prairie fame.

A beautifully written commentary on the decline of, not only the wolf, but much of nature. A 10. Ron

There was talk about re-introducing wolves into the West highlands of Scotland but the Scottish RSPCA got it stopped on grounds of danger and cruelty..'To the wolves'..Someone told them there were gangs of marauding Glaswegian drunken campers prowling about at night in the highland forests. Sid x

A great tribute to these fiercely, beautiful creatures who have suffered such a tragic fate. Your compassion resonates. Wonderful write, Fay. Always your friend, Sandra
