D-Day Poem by Randy McClave

D-Day

It was the 6th of June 1944
When the world was intertwined in a great world war,
Today was that day that many thought was out of reach
Then our soldiers landed upon the enemy beach.
Boats and soldiers and supplies landed upon the foreign soil
There and then all swore that fascism and injustice would not toil,
The courage of the soldiers went to set the world free
Our soldiers landed upon the beaches of Normandy.
Unto France invasion forces the free world did send
Today was that day that tyranny saw its end,
Thousands of soldiers lived, and thousands patriotically died
Now they are standing at God's righteous and mighty side.
When liberty cried out they all heard her call
But, sadly upon that sandy beaches many soldiers did fall,
Now over the graves of the fallen soldiers we still pray;
June the 6th was D-day.

Very nice commemoration of an important day and a nice honoring of soldiers and what they fought for and what they provided us with! Wonderful poem.
