People disgraced me, the world wounded me
I got these presents after befriending you

I yearned and yearned for long for her
But she remained always a stranger to me

Had you come to seen me on your own
In secret, my desires would have been fulfilled

But after someone told you about me
You came, what a meeting was this?

Yesterday in my mom's womb, tomorrow in the death's
Both times in this world so wonderful to me

Sometimes she wrote my letters sometimes she read to me
I met her thus in pretense, she looked so beautiful to me

I found new wounds, I found a new lease on life
When by chance I came acorss old friends dear to me


I am not the only one with tales of my sorrows
On her silent lips I read sad stories after stories

How do we believe you 'Kaif' that you forgot her fully
Under your pillow, we found, you stacked her lettes carfully.

daaġh duniyā ne diye zaḳhm zamāne se mile
ham ko tohfe ye tumheñ dost banāne se mile

ham taraste hī taraste hī taraste hī rahe
vo falāne se falāne se falāne se mile

ḳhud se mil jaate to chāhat kā bharam rah jaatā
kyā mile aap jo logoñ ke milāne se mile

maañ kī āġhosh meñ kal maut kī āġhosh meñ aaj
ham ko duniyā meñ ye do vaqt suhāne se mile

kabhī likhvāne ga.e ḳhat kabhī paḌhvāne ga.e
ham hasīnoñ se isī hiile bahāne se mile

ik nayā zaḳhm milā ek na.ī umr milī
jab kisī shahr meñ kuchh yaar purāne se mile

ek ham hī nahīñ phirte haiñ liye qissa-e-ġham
un ke ḳhāmosh laboñ par bhī fasāne se mile

kaise māneñ ki unheñ bhuul gayā tū ai 'kaif'
un ke ḳhat aaj hameñ tere sirhāne se mile
