Darling…You Are The Moon, Red and Round
Darling…You Are The Moon, Red and Round
By: Freeyad Ibrahim
If I compare thee to the moon
I am right
For you are as bright.
If I compare me too to the moon
I am not bright
Yet I am right,
For you have borrowed
Your brightness
From the paleness
of my delight
See.. how I am White!
Like any hungry
I like your round face
Round andRed
Not because it is like
the golden liras
ofCaliphs and Sultans
of East and West
glittering on the silky bed,
Boasted
But because it is like
a loaf of bread
that in the tandoor
Of my flaming breast!
is roasted
