Death Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Death

Death confers doctoral degrees
to great people like Gandhi
after the fulfillment of their mission.

Youths and officers jump down before the running trains,
from the suicide point in tall peaks
or the skyscrapers built in a record time.
Certificates of death their kin receive soon,
greasing the palms of some revenue officers.

The Islam inspired ISIS slit the neck or shoot at head,
the captured journalists and people of other sects
who worship not their Almighty.
For killing people, no Almighty lolls His tongue!
Their decrees of death aren't recognised.

The swine flu, the AIDS virus,
award instant degrees of death.
But the Tamil Siddha sages have medicines
to treat the viral infections. They declare,
the degrees of death got ready for these deadly virus
are fake degrees and people need not fear them.

O my school going boys and girls!
You drink potion and soon be not in motion
for the simple shipwreck you meet
in school final or college examinations.
If you fear for the results of tests and exams,
how will you dare to face death with smiles?
