Death Claiming Our Long Lost Love Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Death Claiming Our Long Lost Love

Walking along stretches of sandy shores, lonely, feelings of
emptiness searching through many moments of sorrow, taking
this mind into denizens of yesterday when we were together.

Our lives filled with joy and intense desires, being in each
others arms, not wanting to let go, just hoping we could for-
ever stay in the throes of our love.

Never thinking of the future or the ending of our lives, one
day finding that we were getting old, wondering where the
time had gone.

It seemed like only yesterday we had met, through the years
never being parted, our lives seemed to be perfectly balanced,
waking now in the darkness of night, tears flowing.

Reaching out, touching your empty pillow with my aching heart,
you were my long lost love once upon a time, then we found one
another again, and it seemed like we were never parted.

So many years we shared, tears and laughter flowing between us,
now, once again we've been separated, this time by death, this
heart crying from depths of being, wanting you, but once again
you are my long lost love, this time forever.
