Death Is A Surprise. Poem by Rm. Shanmugam Chettiar

Death Is A Surprise.

Death is a piece of news
Shocking only the offspring.
To the rest it’s a surprise.
They visit from obligation

So true, no one experiences the death as shocking as the closest family members. To the others is much more of a surprise. That being said, luckily there are still people visiting the grief stricken offspring with a great heart. Even though many of the visitors after the death of a loved one come just out of obligation, after the death of my mother I received a visit from a friend who really made my grief a good bit lighter through his great wisdom. He listened and talked about forgiveness and made all of us feel different. The worst part of grief is guilt.
