Dedicated To Sandip Poem by RAJ NANDY

Dedicated To Sandip

DEDICATED TO SANDIP
(AN OLD COLLEGE MATE)

Seeking directions, after thirty long years,
I had finally reached his house in Nakuleswar
Bhattacherje Lane;
And my visit was not totally in vain!
When I saw his son's face looking down from the
second floor balcony,
I realised it was Sandip's face peeping out at me!
I recalled my old friend's handsome face,
His specs and a coy smile of those college days,
With a body fit like a Russian trapeze artist,
And a personality which made many girls fall at
his feet!
Yet he had maintained his dignity and poise,
When many others would have slipped, faced with
a similar choice!
Knowing his sincerity and steadfastness, I had
no doubt,
That one day he will become a Doctorate in his
profession, - making us feel proud!
It woud had been nice had we met face to face,
Though the conversation over the phone was a
saving grace!
Now I do sincerely pray for his wife's recovery, *
While our old friendship remains as my cherised
memory!
