Dementia Poem by Jaishree Nair

Dementia

Rating: 5.0

Drowning in the depth of forgotten thoughts,
Trying to knit the thread of memories,
to lighten the black outs of mind
lost and unknown in the world of reality...

Gazing at known and unknown shapes..
Straining to put names to the names
Sick in mind and sick in deeds
Actions unaware and unknown
Hurting in the shadows of the past.

Begging forgiveness in moments of light..
Helpless in the clutches of fogginess..
Wandering in the labyrinth of confusion..
without a mind, without a heart.

The leech inside sucking
the blood of memories
to the darkness of light
and stillness of death.

Moth eaten remains
longing for eternal oblivion...
An escape from this horror of blindness of mind!

The sad plight of those afflicted by dementia who wade through the mire of dark shadows is poignantly put! A touching write!

Knitting the thread of memories is interesting. Forgiveness is a nice spiritual values and a kind person practices this. Knowing the unknown shapes of pain and elevating them is wonderful. We hope for happiness in stead of pain. Very interesting poem this is.10
