Derniers Mots. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

This is a brief story, set at a beach. The man attold the woman to come in the water after him; and stepped aside to let her go first.
However, when she looked back, he had turned to stone. A very surprising outcome.
The poem is like an update of the Bible, Genesis 19, in which the Lord punished Sodom And Gomorrah with fire and brimstone, but allowed Lot and his wife to escape. 'But his wife looked back, from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt'. Gen.19: 26. God had warned them not to look back.
