Destinations Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Destinations

If following the same path,
Done to complain...
About where it ultimately ends.
Again at a brick wall.
Why is this blamed on others.
Others who have seen the signs,
Directing them...
To better and safer ways to reach,
Their destinations unobstructed.
Clear of obstacles.
Not one to face.

Yet...
Warned not to take a path,
Unnecessary that causes heartache.
With posted pictures,
Describing hidden poisonous snakes.
And creatures dressed like sweet sheep.
Pretending not to be evil wolves.
Prepared to deceive disbelivers.

But...
For whatever the reason,
This is the path that attracts.
The ones repeatedly looking for,
Something that has them addicted more...
To accusations to make.
Knowing to face that same brick wall,
Is ahead for them.

Why is it,
Many refuse to listen or pay attention.
Then expect,
Empathy or sympathy from others to get.
When they had been the ones,
Painting the pictures.
And posting the signs.
Hoping no one will experience,
The ignorance they overcomed.
From lessons taught to them done.

Although accused for not caring.
Or expressing concern.
But no one mentions,
Or takes responsibility...
For allowing themselves,
To be repeatedly victimized...
By their own actions to admit them.
