Do I Choose...? Poem by Kimberly Lindsey

Do I Choose...?

Rating: 5.0

I am afraid.
I am happy.
I am sad and alone.

I have a choice to make,
And it is not just my own.
I want to make the right decision,
Lest I destroy a life.

I ask God to guide me,
Choose to whom, I will be a wife.
The choice is so fragile,
For hearts can be shattered.

I love one with my entire being,
And the other, with my mind and heart.

One is safe.
The other is passion.
One is stability.
The other uncertain.

My love for one is all encompassing.
My love for the other, warm and fun.

One man is all I ever wanted.
The other, I would settle for.

How do I choose?
I do not know….

Do I choose love, passion and stability?
Or do I choose uncertainty, laughter, and fun?

Do I choose the one, who has hurt me?
Or do I choose one, who I have hurt in return?

Do I choose, at all?
Is it even my choice to make?

Heavenly father, please help me
Do I choose one, or do I choose none?

Hi Kim - This is a real cri de coeur - thanks for sharing you lovely Texan Heart with all your PH friends. Despite the angst it is a very delicately penned poem and I have scored it a MAX on that count. Beacsue I am a Christian for rme V 3 is crucial. It is a great blessing to be in touch with the LORD and be able to seek His spiritual guidence (remember He is available 24/7 whereever we may be and whatever our circumstances) . Personally - and especially because of your responsiblitiy for your beautiful daughters - I feel what you need is a Spiritual Man. You are still young and logically seeking a Man who will love you totally. Speiritual men do have a romantic side too but they try to keep it conrolled by the Spirit! Although objectively your (cerebral) choice seems a simple one Safety - Stability - Love - Mutual Confidence OR Risk - Instability - Passion - Uncertainty we are also ruled by the Heart and in my expereince Texas Girls always want to have fun! If you are prepared to ask the key question WWJD (What Would Jesus Do?) you might just get not only the right answer but also real HEART PEACE! I am praying for you every day that the LORD will guide both your Mind and your Heart. In several of my poems - being members of the lovely PH Family does enable us to share and care. Thanks again KIM for sharing your dilemma with us. I love Cindy's comment and I feel that my comment complements hers! Love in Poetry - JOHN

Everybody tells you to follow your heart, to me that is an idiotic thing to do. Your heart leads to pain and heartache, believe me I've 'followed my heart' way to many times to know what i'm talking about. Listen to your brain its the safe smart thing to do.
