Don't Give Up On Life Poem by Francis Duggan

Don't Give Up On Life

Don't give up on life though you are feeling down
An ageing poor bloke on the poor side of the town
Forsaken by your adult children and your ageing ex wife
Who now has a far younger man in her life
Alone in his one bedroom flat feeling sad
And thinking of the good days in life he has had
Until in his mid fifties he became unemployed
And with a huge drop in financial income came a loss of pride
In his late sixties on a pension he lives on his own
Of far happier days in life he has known
In stories like his there is not anything new
People ageing in poverty are not in the few
My only advice to him is you do not give up on life
Though forsaken by family and forsaken by wife.

We know money turns this world so financial stress causes huge issues. Life changes for many in middle age. I am one. Positive words, Thank you
