Doubt And Despair Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Doubt And Despair

Stop allowing yourself,
To cast a shadow of doubt and despair.
Raise your head.
Feel the Sun upon you shine.
Bask in every moment of it.
To discover this more beneficial.
With a doing to prevent yourself,
From stumbling into a tree.
Or falling onto the sidewalk.
Touching the ground without bending a knee.
As if done to do this purposely.
With skill and obvious repeated practice.
Giving your shadow a needed rest.
From portraying a gloom.
Dramatic and over rehearsed.
Yet...
Done to do the best you could.
And hopefully from someone,
Their empathy to gain.
Change this needless reflective perspective.
Feel the Sun upon your face shine.
Raise your head.
Stop allowing yourself,
To cast a shadow of doubt and despair.
And visit a tree purposely to sit with it.
Not stumble into it to then pretend,
The doing had been accidental.
