Doubts And Ifs Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Doubts And Ifs

Doubts and ifs to have,
As to who God is.
Only takes eyes half closed,
To open them wide.
With this to recognize it,
And this to realize...
God is not what a human can make.
Deciding quickly it easy to duplicate.
As few ungrateful souls,
Choose to eliminate.

Doubts and ifs to have,
As to who fakes better their faith...
In and out of the most sacred places.
To pretend themselves loyal and devoted.
Are noticed to be the main ones,
Provoking discrimination, division...
Ridicule and disrespect.
Upon others they may sit next to...
In church pews.
With a bowing of heads.
And an 'Amen' heard quietly expressed.

What is it about life.
We all are blessed to receive and get.
That leaves many disbelieving,
Their misdeeds to perform them...
They will never pay the consequences for it.

What doubts and ifs.
Could possibly revisit their minds.
Found to allow repeatedly to sit.
Without them to know,
An evil done to another...
Is no different than a thrown boomerang.
Returning to the instigator.
What is this to doubt about,
With an if to follow!
