Droom(2) …. Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Droom(2) ….

Rating: 5.0

Schat, net in Leiden aangekomen
elke nacht vol met dromen
over het net verlaten land
weemoedig in gedachten
mijn prachtig geboorteland

ik zie vader als vanouds
in de woonkamer zitten
met in zijn handen iets vertrouwds
familie-banden zitten klitten

‘k zal jouw groeten overbrengen
aan onze lieve Vader en Zijn engelen....

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
In the new residence, my late father oft appears in dreams,
at the beginning each night I dream about him and it looks so real that I enter the living-room where I see him sitting on the carpet.
He looks lovingly and tender, but does not say a thing, he talks with
his eyes. We are just looking at each other and in the end he'll say constantly: Time is up, I must go now and disappears all of a sudden.
I awake then and go to the living-room where I have seen him sitting on the carpet in the corner of the room. At the time of checking, he has gone away. It feels so real. Five years long I have dreamt about him constantly. He is always at the same place, same corner in the
living-room. We used to chat for hours till midnight, while my mum and brother have gone early to bed. That's my dream always and my spouse called me the Maria of our home, he refers to Joseph in the palace of the pharaohs.
