Drunk With Wonder Poem by Norah Tunney

Drunk With Wonder

Rating: 4.1

My lover is outside
brushing the deep powder
from the apricot tree
while I lie here
in the softness of light
and the stillness of snow,

I do not have to die
to taste heaven-
all day long
Christmas on the ground
all this whiteness floating around.

Last night
I got drunk on a snowflake
now the glow of the fire,
this hot cup of tea
and the white hush of silence
on all I see.

A depiction of serenity and contentness painted by a beautiful word picture. I do not have to die to taste heaven. Great piece of work

Christmas on the ground all this whiteness floating around Magical lines for a magical scene And the pure softness of now. Sadly where I live in the Fylde we seem to be limited to one brief snowfall each winter. It goes in less than a day. I think it's the salt air Your poem takes me back to mountains above Innsbruck. What fun we had! Loved your poem
