As I walked, everywhere
I saw labourers atop some buildings with safety helmets
I saw them working at construction sites with diligence.
I saw unity in humanity.
As I walked, everywhere
I saw people of many nationalities rushing to workplaces
I saw them standing anxiously at the traffic signals
I saw unity in humanity.
As I walked, everywhere
I saw nurses and doctors in hospital
I saw them taking care of the sick
I saw unity in humanity.
As I walked, everywhere
I saw taxis rushing, zooming by,
I saw young men driving those taxis with acumen
I saw unity in humanity.
As I walked, everywhere
I saw school buses in the early mornings
I saw children and schools everywhere
I saw unity in humanity.
As I walked, everywhere
I saw supermarkets selling foodstuff
I saw boys and girls at billing counters
I saw unity in humanity.
As I walked, everywhere
I saw a fish market and a livestock market
I saw fuel stations and many restaurants
I saw unity in humanity.
As I walked, everywhere
I saw the roti- maker and people waiting for hot bread,
I saw street cleaners and garbage trucks
I saw unity in humanity.
As I walked, everywhere
I saw a mosque and heard a prayer call
I saw many worshipers praying there in uniformity
I saw humanity in unity.
As I walked, everywhere
I saw people fasting for Ramadan
I saw them sharing meals at Iftar
I saw humanity in unity.
As I walked into the Departure Terminal,
I saw at the Airport so many people working there,
I saw passengers boarding the plane, content and smiling;
I saw humanity in unity;
As I walked into my flight home
I remembered Dubai years ago
I remembered the humanity in unity which prevails there
and their unity in humanity, which I may never forget.
