Dumped Love... Poem by SWAPNA FERNANDEZ

Dumped Love...

Rating: 4.9

A mother of eight,
Deep source of love,
For never ending affection....

In her nineties,
Age takes a toll....
Her children grows careless,
Dumps her in barn....

Partially blind, bare skinned,
Her body so weak....
Can barely raise her hand,
In search of help....

Help... Help... Hardly heard....
Saves her from misery,
By a few good men,
Back into this careless world...

Why are beings so selfish? ? ?
So selfish to love and empathise....
Forgets that HE was also begeted,
In the womb of a mother....

Dumped Love...

Yes, few people stop to consider that they are just the same as all others. Nicely written, Swapna

Swapna, Yes, the world has grown too materialistic. Nobody has time and money to care for the aged. Rightly aired concern for the old and helpless. This is now happening in India/Keralam too, where we had immense sentimental attachments, not far beyond. We are also embracing change- but not the good things: only the convenient changes we adopt. And it is convenient to neglect / discard the aged. Let people read you. Nicely penned. Thanks for sharing.

A pertinent question asked in the poetry for all sons and daughters of the precious motherhood. In fact this is a social issue in the present society and the poem both relevant and beautiful in that respect.

Pointing out the core of social problem the poem is touching heart! If details are increased still more clearly it will be the best one!

It is a great tragedy now taking place in society where old members are feeling dejected, deprived the human dignity they entitled and to live as long as the final moment that willed by golden rules somewhere decided more than human calculation. In fact aged people must get proper treatment and life services for existence and this is a best poem that I read in its true spirit.
